(BOZEMAN, MT – March 5, 2012) Southwest Montana film production company Grizzly Creek Films announces the premiere of its new series, America the Wild with Casey Anderson, commencing a five-week run on Nat Geo WILD. Six new episodes featuring compelling wildlife adventure stories in some of America’s most pristine and untouched wilderness areas. Simply put: it’s epic wildlife drama, as you’ve never seen it before.

America the Wild on Nat Geo WILD features award-winning presenter Casey Anderson on a series of breathtakingly wild adventures: he’ll paddle the Grand Canyon, ski with Wolverines in British Columbia, stalk Mountain Lions in Montana, stake out the scavengers of Yellowstone, rappel into a raven’s nest, share the beach with a Polar Bear on Alaska’s northern slope, and climb to rugged extremes in pursuit of Northern Maine’s Black Bears – bringing audiences up-close and personal with rare and endangered species, some deadly, others dashing, in the stunning natural ecosystems that they call home. America the Wild represents the third consecutive season for Grizzly Creek Films programming airing on Nat Geo WILD.
Series lineup is as follows:
WOLVERINE KING
Sunday, March 11, 2012, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, 6 p.m. MT.
Bracing himself against the fierce elements in the frozen wilds of Alaska and British Columbia, Casey Anderson finds himself on his own “mission impossible” – a quest to find and film an elusive animal whose legend is almost larger than life, the Wolverine. Known by numerous common names including “devil bear,” “glutton,” and “hyena of the North,” the Wolverine is perhaps the least-understood carnivore in all of North America. And it’s no wonder . . . because, as Casey discovers, this is a mission where the odds of success are truly stacked against him.
GRAND CANYON SAFARI
Monday, March 12, 2012, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, 7 p.m. MT.
Peering at dawn over the North Rim of Arizona’s Grand Canyon into a mile deep chasm nearly eighteen miles across, Casey’s backpack feels a bit heavier, knowing that he will soon be standing on the other side. The harsh reality of living in this landscape is made explicit by the trailhead sign that warns of death from dehydration, exposure, and exhaustion for unprepared hikers. Likewise, life in the desert is no picnic for the wildlife that survives day-in and day-out through brutal extremes. But as Casey profiles the rare and endangered wildlife living on the edge of the abyss, he learns from their unique adaptations – skills that will serve him well along his grueling trek.

YELLOWSTONE SCAVENGERS
Monday, March 19, 2012, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, 7 p.m. MT.
Casey plunges headlong into a covert-ops wildlife stakeout – several weeks of filming to determine the ultimate scavenger in a gladiator-style contest surrounding a fresh deer kill in Yellowstone – activity reaches a fever pitch as Wolves, Mountain Lions, Skunks, Ravens, and Maggots come “out of the woodwork” for a piece of the action, all while observing the most basic rule of scavenging: eat – but don’t get eaten.
BLACK BEAR INVASION
Monday, March 26, 2012, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, 7 p.m. MT.
Casey’s newest protégé, “Casey-Junior,” is a six-week old ambassador Black Bear cub who will learn to walk, swim, climb, and forage, all for the first time under Casey’s careful tutelage; but what starts out small doesn’t stay that way as Casey embarks on an all-out quest to find Black Bears in the wildest country east of the Mississippi: Maine’s “Big Woods.” In this vibrant ecosystem, ancient rugged mountains, fertile bogs, rich moose habitat, and truly majestic wilderness hiking converge to form an unforgettable backdrop to Casey’s quest to find and film Black Bears.

GRIZZLY VS. POLAR BEAR
Monday, April 2, 2012, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, 7 p.m. MT.
A strange and puzzling story is swirling through the land of the midnight sun: Polar Bears and Brown Bears, isolated from one another for millennia by geography, climate, and behavior, are suddenly appearing side-by-side – prompting Casey Anderson to embark on a fact-finding mission to the Arctic and put Brutus, his nine-hundred pound Brown Bear, through the paces of “Life as a Polar Bear” in the hopes of solving one of the natural world’s most intriguing new mysteries. The stage is set for a remarkable contest: Brown bear vs. Polar bear. Which species is the ultimate survivor? And can we predict the eventual victor in this, one of the most compelling wildlife riddles of our time?

STALKING THE MOUNTAIN LION
Monday, April 9, 2012, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, 7 p.m. MT.
The highlight of BIG CAT WEEK, “Stalking the Mountain Lion,” returns for an encore. Casey Anderson sets out to track one of North America’s most elusive ghosts: the mountain lion. Casey’s longtime friend and cat expert Tyler Johnerson is on hand to help him in his quest to witness “the ghost of the Rockies.” Armed with specialized camera technology, they hope to capture never-before-seen footage of mountain lions and their cubs living in the greater Yellowstone ecosystem. A nearly impossible challenge given that this formidable and cunning predator is capable of jumping vertically nearly 20 feet in a single leap.

BIG CAT WEEK
Sunday, December 11, through Saturday, December 17, 2011, on Nat Geo WILD
More than a television event, BIG CAT WEEK is an extension of National Geographic’s Big Cats Initiative (BCI), a long-term commitment to halt the decline of these iconic animals in the wild. This year’s shows document some of the world’s most iconic and endangered predators. Did you know that Africa’s lion population has declined by more than 90 percent in the last 50 years? That there are now more tigers living in captivity than in the wild? And that cheetahs have disappeared from more than 75 percent of their range?
